Kardtana is a first-person slasher rougelike that incorporates parkour style movement. Slice through cards to earn money, slice them in a poker combination pattern to earn even more money so you can win rounds by meeting the quotas, buy upgrades and win even more rounds.

PROTOTYPE

[Final year project]

My final year project aims to match the innovation of “juice” that Platinum Games managed to pioneer over 11 years ago with Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance which serves as the inspiration for this prototype. Currently a work in progress, with this prototype I am to deliver a satisfying hack n’ slash combat system with the addition of the “blade mode” mechanic found in MGR:R that will incorporate a modified and refined iteration of the mesh slicing system found in Kardtana.

Nikolay Topchiyski

TECHNICAL/GAME DESIGNER

Who am I?

Hi there, I am Nikolay! I am 22 years old and I am in my third year studying games design at Staffordshire University of London. I am looking forward to joining the industry as a technical/game designer or a general developer.

My goal as a developer is to combine both my technical knowledge behind games systems and game design theory to deliver the satisfying and fun game experiences that players deserve. Along with this, tapping into different disciplines such as animations and music programming (for example) is important for me because I like to gain as much knowledge as possible about things that are outside of my comfort zone and current expertise in order to make a better game and grow as a developer.

My top favourite game franchises of all time are Cyberpunk 2077, Max Payne, Shank and The Last Of Us. Apart from gaming, other hobbies of mine include working out, making music and video editing.
